That's a nice one. What date did you plant yours? I got mine in later than normal, but they always seem to have plenty of time to mature. The deer are hitting mine hard the past couple days. They never used to bother them, but over the past few years they have found them after they have full coverage and will have over half the leaves eaten by the time I harvest.
Do you use a potato plow to dig yours? I use a plow for my white potatoes, but for some reason I dig the sweets by hand, babying every one.

I think I planted first week in june. Sweet potatoes dont like cool weather. I plan on taking the three largest to the local fall festival next week. Dug these by hand, the plow is hard to use without breaking them.
That's when I usually plant mine, but I was several weeks late this year. I've started my slips from the previous years harvest for many (20?) years now. I can't remember the variety now, it's been so long ago when I first got them. I'll have to look that up.
I've always dug mine around the first frost.
