Switch-Hitch In Use

I picked up a Kasco Switch-Hitch a while back. I already talked about it in <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=implement&Number=145669&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1>this</A> thread.

I finally got a chance to use it with my rear blade and I thought I would share some photos. I had 67 tons of crushed concrete (recycled) trucked in. The first 3 truckloads I moved with my bucket on the FEL and the rear blade on the 3-point.

The next day I had the other 3 truckloads delivered and I remembered about the Switch-Hitch. So I went and put it on and then mounted my 6-foot rear blade to it. What a difference this made. It was so much easier being able to do most of the work facing forwards. The amount of reach made a huge difference as well. Having the blade that far away from the tractor was a lot better than having it right behind the rear tires.

Boy, what a <font color=blue>beautiful</font color=blue> property you have there! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif How many buildings, other than the main house, do you have? It sure looks the way I want our "compound" to look when we're all done. Absolutely gorgeous!

oh man ... screwed up again!! When I bought my tractor a year ago the salesman asked if I wanted a quick-tach bucket and I said no ... figgered all I would use on the front was a bucket and everything else would be 3 point implements. Never woulda thought there'd be a way to put a 3 pt on the front !! really cool ...

You may have got the wrong impression from my photos. I only have a house on my 6 acres. I am currently finishing up clearing the land for my pole building. All the property that you see in views 1 and 3 is mine. Everything in view 4 is also mine except at the very end of the driveway you can see a small patch of blue/grey, that is my neighbors house. It is his house and pole barn that you can see in view 2. In view 2 you can see off to the right of my driveway the area that I am clearing for my pole barn. It is beautiful property if I do say so myself. It is mostly wooded (had more woods before I got the tractor) and very secluded except for that one neighbor. We get along fine so far, we just moved here last fall. I am trying very hard and am going out of my way to try and be a good neighbor to them. I can tell though that they don't like all the changes since I moved in. They only have an acre but kind of treated the whole area as theirs. The people that we bought the place from never had it surveyed and had no idea where the property lines were. My neighbors were quite surprised to see that survey stake go up in what they thought was their front yard. They have been using this property for years to gain access to that pole barn. My lawyer said that we should write up something and have them sign it to avoid legal problems in the future. They have to use the land for at least 15 years before they could claim any rights to it but I don't plan on taking any chances. If they ever do piss me off they will have a hard time driving straight into their pole barn. Well I guess I've gotten a little off subject here. By the way, you must have a great amount of will power to be on this site everyday and know that you may not get a tractor for 2 or 3 more years. You will definately be the most informed buyer your dealer will see for a while.

Yes I am very glad that I decided to go with the industrial tires. I don't mow with my New Holland, I have a 16.5 h.p. Weedeater lawn tractor with a 42" deck and hydrostatic drive. I do venture on to the lawn from time to time and have not left any signs except this winter when I needed to get rid of some large bushes. I like the fact that they are so durable and puncture resistant. I treat my tractor like a tractor and am not afraid to drive through and over just about anything. They have great traction when I'm in the woods, when I'm clearing land for my pole barn, and in the winter for plowing snow. I just take it out of 4WD and make sure that my wheels are moving before I turn the front tires when I'm on the lawn.

There is a switch-hitch type attachment, but with a PTO that can be run off hydraulics. I found it on eBay. I was thinking about how handy this could be on my Bobcat Skid Steer.

That is a cool setup. Would probably work on a Power Trac too. Especially the larger ones with flow similar to your bobcat.

I think you're being a little modest about your property. It really is very nice, and I know you realize how lucky you are. It's about as close to what I want to have as I've seen in a long time!

I don't know about having will power. It took me 32 years to quit smoking!!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I think I'd be willing to spend every day on TBN even if I wasn't planning on buying a tractor. It's just such a great site for sharing information, meeting new people, and being entertained! I guess the part about waiting 2 - 3 years is the hard part, although a whole lot of other people have waited that long to get their machines, so I guess I can do it too. However, you never know what might happen tomorrow, so I also want to be prepared in case that opportunity comes along. Believe me, if it comes along, I'll jump on it! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
