I have a late 80's JD 755 currently towing (rather slowly) a woods rd60 finish mower. Any thoughts as to if a mmm would speed up the process? If so, how would I know which mower would fit a tractor like that? I am a rookie here and found a 7 iron for $900 which got my wheels turning but admittedly don't know what the heck I am doing...help! Thanks!

Can't tell you if a 7Iron mower will work with your 755.
I'm assuming you do have a mid-PTO? If no mid-PTO, no use in looking for a mid-mount mower.
As far as speeding up mowing time...depends. If you have a lot of low hanging branches, you'll need to trim them down so you can get close to the trees and such...or, you end up saving some time mowing, but increasing your trimming time.
As far as which mower...I don't recall the model number (260 comes to mind, but I'm sure the TBNer's with 755's will correct me if I'm wrong). This mower was used on a number of Deere compact tractors...just make sure you get the correct brackets to hook it up.

All that said, it might be more advisable to find a used ZTR rather then an MMM.

I have a early 90's 755 that I bought new with a 60" MMM. This is my first year using a 60" RFM behind it. I got the RFM principally because our property is hilly, and the MMM requires that I keep the rear wheels in the narrow (less stable) position- otherwise the tires hit the mower when it's raised. Here's my experience so far:
It's easier to mow closer to things like fences and flower beds with the MMM.
The MMM handles abrupt grade changes smoother
The RFM delivers a nicer looking finished job. Since I bought it used, I don't know what blades are on it, but I suspect they produce higher lift than the bladeson my MMM.
I think that having the RFM further behind the wheels allows more time for the grass to spring back than with the MMM.
I use more of the width of the RFM than I do the MMM. I think it's because I don't trust that the right front tire track will get mowed, so I don't always take a full width cut.
I really like that I can back the RFM under trees and into spaces where I can't get the MMM.
Keep in mind that the MMM is a side discharge while my RFM is rear discharge. I looked specifically for a rear discharge RFM so the clippings are more uniformly distributed than the way the side discharge windrows them.
The RFM is way easier to put on/take off.
Bottom line: my mowing time is about the same regardless of which attachment I cut with. So is my string trimming time afterward. I'll be keeping my MMM because I have a tow-behind vac that hooks up to its side discharge.
