So recently i did a complete service to the SX3100 (300hrs). This time i did not use the Yanmar red fluid "Yellow Metal Can". I went to Napa and purchased what i figured was just as good if not better. Napa Premium Hyd Tractor fluid. White 5 gal. pail with green lettering. Has J20A/B/C listed for spec. Keep in mind the Yanmar fluid only had J20A listed along with TF500. I figured maybe the Napa fluid was alittle lower viscosity making it better for colder weather. WRONG!! Now when i go out and fire it up when its about 30 or below i get a whining noise for the first few minutes until it warms up. When its warmer out 40 or so its not a problem. So in the near future i will drain it all out and put some HYGuard low vis. in or go back to the Yanmar red fluid in the yellow metal can. Just a word of caution to those thinking of using the Napa fluid. Anyone else have this issue?
