With all this synthetic oil popping up and synthetic blends.. etc... anyone making, or has used synthetic greases?

Yes, I use the Mobil synthetic. Its supposed to be compatible w/ lithium based grease. I can detect no difference between it and the less expensive lithium based grease. When I use up what I have Im going back to lithium grease.

yes i did.. i'd suggest not wasting ur money the only realy good one i've heard of is mobil's gold colored one for trucks but it's not widely avb.

The best general purpose one is chevron delo branded. The best ag branded grease i've used is castrol agian limited avb.

I used Slick 50 grease for about 4 years which is not synthetic, I have used Mobil Synthetic for about 6 months. The Mobil appears to last longer and that is what I am after.

So far I only have used Amsoil greases. Installing their Heavy duty grease on loader this weekend and will give you some results soon (at next loader greasing)

My father is a dealer so I think it is around $4 per tube. Cheap in my book. Will install on loader since it gets used all the time now with the snow in New England and I will install on backhoe. That I think will be the "tell all".

So far I only can tell it is a pain in the behind to get of the hands if it gets on..Other then that I can not tell no diff. I think it will need a lot of time using to see if it gets used quick, helps protect bushing etc. Just need more time on the tractor now......Between the guns and the R/c heli no time /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I use Amsoil. Works fine, doesn't smell like dino grease. It's available at the Amsoil web site.

I've used Red Line CV-2 grease in everthing for years now, and it is great stuff. It's best in high-speed bearings, but also works fine elsewhere. One nice thing about it is that you know when it's time to change it - it's light red in color when fresh, and when it gets old, it turns black. As you're displacing the old grease, it's easy to see when you've pushed out all the old stuff. The difference in price between synthetic and dino is negligible when you consider how long a tube will last.

I normally use a heavy-duy moly grease but I recently I tried some Amsoil synthetic grease. So normally while cleaning out the poultry barns I will lube all the joints with grease. Usually the heavy-duty moly grease will go a day without the arms making much noise. With the Amsoil synthetic grease I had to relube the joints half way through the day because they started getting noisy. The amsoil grease seemed thinner than the grease I normally use and didn’t work as long.

On the other hand I was having trouble with my screw drive automatic vent actuators screws wearing out so I tried the synthetic grease on them and I have noticed much less wear. So I probably won’t use it on my loader arms but I will use it on bearings and screw drives.

I have the same problem. I will try synthetic on mine. Try Mobil if you can and tell us how it works when cleaning out. It worked good on mine.

Sounds good Jerry.
I'll give it a try.
