i first ran castol regular for a while then i went to a castrol synthetic blend for a month or two just to make sure the regular oil was flushed out then i made the full switch to full synthetic and it runs alot better . betfore at 50hours she was starting to tap and you could tell it was time for an oil change. but now i let it go to around 60/70 hours maybe before i change it she runs great.i would recomend it but switch over gradually .

Thanks Tommy. I will put a few more hours on the machine then I am gonna go synthetic. I only have 10 hours on the unit now and just changed the oil (first recommended factory service) at 8 hours......................Roger:)

2 things

1. Do NOT use just any old oil with diesels, you can not use oil meant for a gasser.

2. You don't need to "gradually" go to synthetic. I'm sorry but there's no mysticism behind oil. You can mix and match types of oils (given that they are compatible with your engine) all you want. In fact a lot of synthetics (including all but one of the castrol syntecs) are just hydrocracked dino oil.

well i could be wrong but i read up before i switched and it said to never mix a regular motor oil with a full synthetic oil . it said you you mix a synthethic blend with a regular but not a full synthetic so i went by what they said and i thin i switched over the time of two oil changes meaning i ran a synthetic blend castrol oil in it for two oil changes then i went with the full synthetic. thats just what i done .600 hours and she don't puff no smoke at all and starts everytime.(unless the starter dies in a mud hole)lol

i still don't think it's ok to mix match regular oil with full synthetic????i'll have to look it up.

bobistheoilguy.com is a good place to get info, there's a lot of myths out there about oils that just aren't true.

I have used TRC synthetic blend in my Mule for the past year, no problems.

We've been running Mobil 1 synthetic in our diesel Gator for several months now, and have had no adverse effects. I even put Royal Purple 75W-140 (much heavier than low-visc. HyGard) synthetic in the front diff to try to quiet it down, but it didn't help much. But for the engine, I heartily recommend synthetic. I run it in my Ram's Cummins, transmission, and rear diff.
