My 50 hour service will be upon me in 2 or 3 weeks and I am wondering what advantages/disadvantages there would be in changing to synthetic engine oil? Are there any suggestions as to oil weight if I make the change? I have an HST3010 and currently have super UDT in it, is there a synthetic hydro fluid?

Bruce, please check the oil & lubrication section. There's enough discussions on this subject to choke several horses.

Bruce, There is a LOT of stuff in the lubricant section, but in some ways it's too much! I don't know what's "better", but for me, it is just sort of cheap insurance on a $20,000 investment. It may turn out that the tractors last for ever with synthetic, but it will take a while to make that call. On what weight, use what Kubota spec'ed out, 10W30. Also make darn sure the oil is rated for diesel engine use.

Is there a synthetic hydro fluid? Yes, several. Mobil 1, Amsoil, Chevron and others. What's "best"? Dunno for sure, but for cold temp operation, sythetic sure specs out better!
