Hi,

As I'm currently shopping around for a 55-60 HP tractor, I contacted my NH dealer (a network of 5 dealers under the same banner). He answered that they don't actually have boomers 4055 or 4060 on any of their lots, but they have a 2007 T2420.

Reading around, I found out that the 2420 preceeded the 4060, but can't find a clear confirmation on the evolution of that line.

Maybe checking out the used one could help me knowing what the new one is like. I'd like to know if the 4060 is similar to the 2420, or did it change much in 4 years and a number change ?

Thanks, Phil

The the T2420 to Boomer 4060 is an extension of the TC55DA line from earlier years. The TC55DA and TC48DA have similar design to the '90s New Holland 2120, but with redesigned sheet metal, operator platform, more electronics, and and new loader. In addition, the TC55DA added a turbocharger. For the T2420 and Boomer 4060, the engine HP has been cranked up to 60 and now has a very nice factory cab available as an option.

So the T2420 and Boomer 4060 are direct decendents of an old and proven NH 2120 line of tractors, but they have been subject to New Holland's model number shuffle in the last few years. It can be very frustrating for the new buyer.

In my opinion, a 4-year old T2420 can no longer be considered a "new" tractor. It has probably sat outside through three or 4 winters and not had regular service. They would have to offer me a very deep discount to purchase a tractor like that because as soon as you take it home, it will become a 4-year old used tractor for you and the value will take a much bigger hit than if you had a Boomer 4060 delivered. It's probably a good machine, but it has been "orphaned" for a very long time. If it were to have a major problem, you will find yourself always explaining how you have a new, old tractor.:confused2:

Yes NH makes it confusing with TC-55, T-2420 and now 4060.
I believe they all all identical, similar machines, but as Jinman said T-2420 is the older model.
I bought a 4060 in April 2010, with 270tl FEL, all new.....
The Loader says "2009" on the ID tag... so it was a year old when I bought it......so Jinman has a good point.
.. But! the 4060 is a sweet machine. With EHSS, I wonder why I was so stuck on hydro?

This is my 4060 Boomer.
R-4s are good compromise, EHSS is a trip,
Runs out of traction way before power.
120hrs and still learning with this machine..
I cleared 10A of heavy brush last season, up to 3"... now just mulch
