so I changed the oil and filter for the spring. I also installed 3 new glow plugs as mine went bad and has been starting like crap!! that all went well but I installed a new fuel filter and now I am having an issue where the rpm runs high. I hooked on my finish mower but when I bring the throttle up to 540 it barley spins the mower blade and goes real slow. the manual said I may have air in my fuel lines. I cracked the one bolt right after the fuel pump like the book showed until fuel came out but where is the second that the book talks about? do I have to crack the injectors until bleeds fuel out?.. please help I need to get this up and running but having issues....thanks guys.

I have changed my filter a few times and only thing I did was when I reinstalled the plastic part covering the filter I left it a little loose. I then turn the switch on so the little fuel pump will run. When the fuel fills the filter to the top i turn off the switch and tighten the fuel filter. Never had any problem with air in the lines. Sounds like you may have something else going on. I would make sure everything is tight.

I agree with Bud on this one. I don't think air in the lines is the problem. Any chance you have water/condensation in the fuel?

ok guys I think your both right I think it is something else. I drained the diesel from the tank when I changed the filter just in case I had condensation. I don't believe I have air in the lines because the tractor starts fine and runs fine only thing is it registers high rpm. if I throttle the tractor to half throttle it is in the red on rpm. but the tractor doesn't sound like its over revving. possibly an issue with tach cable?. I don't know?

My tach has not read right for a few years now. I can put mine way in the red also. It show it at 1500 rpm at idle and I know it is probably only around 800 or so rpm's I have not gotten around to fixing or replacing my tach yet.

that's exactly whats going on bud soda. it runs good sounds fine but idles around 2100 and to bring up to pto speed its barely off the idle. so I just ran it last night in the red but I know it wasn't over revving. is there a cable associated with the tack that has been damaged? or possibly a censor?

I don't know if it has a drive cable like the older tractors or if it is a electric tach drive. I may look at mine over the weekend. Maybe the tach is adjustable. I know when I turn the key on the tack jumps up to 1k. I think it should stay on 0. So I believe it is off by 1K rpms. Probably have to replace the tach to fix. I will let you know if I find out anything after I do a little checking.
