Is anyone else having problems with their TYM starting? I have a T293 with ~150 hours on it. When it dropped in the single digits here, the tractor will not start. I have it stored in an unheated barn. I'm using dyed fuel with addtive to prevent gelling - besides single digits aren't really *that* cold.

Imade sure the battery was charged, it was turning over fine but would not fire.

The only way I could get the tractor to start was by using a heat gun near the intake so it was sucking in hot air....my neighbor's TYM T293 has the exact same issue...anyone else?

Is the glow plug light coming on when you turn the key to the left? If so how long does it stay lit?

It is, it stays on for 10-15 seconds?

The local dealer put an inline heater in the neighbors tractor and it still wouldn't start so they just replaced the relay and waiting on new plugs. Wonder if mine need them too?

Sounds like the relay is ok. Check voltage to each glow plug, them ohm out each glow plug. You can cycle the plugs two times, that may help.

Suggest to pre-glow by turning starter key to left for 15-20 seconds - then to the right - pre-glow until lights go out - start and crank for up to 7-10 seconds. Repeat oif no start. It should work - eventually - did so far work with mine. Good luck and let us know how it's working for you.
Otherwise blow the hot air as you mentioned, keep the tractor warmer by covering the engine with tarp / blanket and introduce warm air / heat under the covering or you might consider an engine heater. In cold weather not only he diesel vehicles have difficulties - my gas SUV also struggles at times.

don't feel bad,my 233 won't cold start at 80 degrees without ether.Yes I know that ether is bad for it!!!

I wonder why these Mitsubishi engines have trouble in the cold. They seem to make a good engines. Would seem that they should be able to make these newer engines start with no problems. My 93 ford 1920 starts just fine at 15 F out. Little monger crank time and longer till it idles smooth but it's a diesel.

It turns out that my neighbor's T293 had faulty glowplugs. I'm assuming mine are also bad.

Instead of using ether, try using a heat gun in the intake. It's almost the same thing as glowplugs, the engine is pulling in that hot air - it works.

Hopefully it's the glow plugs but u only have 150 hours. They should not be bad. I'm on 21 year old glow plugs with 950 hours and they still work great.
