Table Height

If winter ever ends, i want to build a nice welding table about 3'x 4.5' but I am not sure how high to build it. I am 5'11 &1/2" tall, weld mostly flat work and small (2x3) angle. My first thought was to go 36" high but after over thinking it for the winter i am left wondering if 32" would be better for the average 45 minute job. So....

How tall is your table and how tall would you like it to be?

I'm only 5'6". My 36" table works fine for me. I would think that would be too low for you for most work.
My "next" one will be based on a hydraulic platform.

36 is typical kitchen counter height. I am the same height as you and think it would be about ideal. Remember you have to be able to put the completed projects back on the ground when you are done also.

I do all my work benches at 36" (I am 6'1"). It's always been a comfortable working height. A side benefit (if you wood work) is that most table saws are 36" high, so you can use a 36" work bench as an out feed table quite handily.

I do that in the wood shop but i try to keep the metal work in a different building.

Is a kitchen counter comfortable. They are 36". I once read in a work bench book to do this. Hang your arms by your side turn your hands out 90*. Palms down. That is your ideal height. I am about your size and works out to 34" for me. Your height is not the sole determining factor.
If your knuckles drag the ground,the lower the bench. Lizard limbs,taller bench.
