Tach Cable Oil Leak?

Just an update on my tach cable oil leak. I did drain some oil to down below the top notch on the dip stick and the leak has virtually stopped, but I still think I have a blow-by problem. I am pretty well convinced I am gaining fluid in my crankcase, but I have not gained much over the past several hours of run-time. Maybe it was a stuck ring/rings.

Can somebody tell me the expected gauge reading I should have on a compression test. Does 185-200 sound about right for a well-worn engine? Both cylinders looked exactly alike. I would think the 1700 and 1500, or any other small diesel engine should be about the same.

I failed to mention that my gauge reads up to 300 psi. On the first couple of engine strokes....the needle pegs past 300 and then "settles" into bouncing between 185 and 210 or so.

I actually think my compression is closer to well above 300, but my gauge will not hold. Both cylinders behave the same way.
