LD1 I'm debating tearing into it or not. Tried following the tach wiring in the manula and it is confusing at best. ( I work on telecom gear so I have a small clue) I have a great dealer may jsut drop it off and see what he thinks.

I love a mystry

NOT ME.:confused2:

The only thing worse than an electrical problem is an electrical problem involving circuit boards.

And the only thing worse than an electrical problem involving circuit boards is an intermitten electrical problem involving circuit boards:mad:

put it thru the paces yesterday again and no issues. Even wiggled every connection I could reach. Me thinks it reverse pol arises a diode causing the inverse flux capacitor to over rev.

I have a DX45 with about 275 hours and the tach occasionally sticks. When this first occured I assumed it had broken. Then next time out, it worked. Month later it failed again and I "gently" bumped the dash area above the tach and started working. Am almost certain the needle is sticking on my tach. You can remove the tach by unscrewing the mouning hardware and take a peek behind the instrument if you want to check wiring.

Good luck with your repair.

I wouldn't have thought about removing a battery cable... Thanks for posting.....

Especially on a tractor where I don't have to reset a clock and radio presets, anytime I'm welding something on or around it I always disconnect the battery. Not sure if it's going to save everthing if something goes wrong, but it's one of those 10 second items that may save me in the long run.

Just like auto racing.....slower into the turn is usually faster out.
