So I realized I had not done my duty and posted pictures of the project so many of you gave me advice on--the wife's tack room. Unfortunately, the 5 year old got the camera and several pictures got deleted, but I will post what I have.
The first series is the space prior to any construction--my biggest issue was dealing with the ceiling. My wife wanted a sheetrock ceiling, but the barn is a metal building. I ended up bolting 2x8 (24" OC) perpendicular to the metal Z channel--this did make sheetrocking the ceiling much easier--I recessed the bolts into the wood to creat a smooth surface.
The picture of the hand shows off the very nice brace I got from the orthopedist when I got a radial fracture in my right hand
. I was using my corded drill (no clutch-and I did not attache the brace handle)to drill for through the z-channel for the bolts. I was drilling too fast and with too big a bit. The drill bound up and spun on me. Not sure if the break happened the first time or the fourth time--but after 4, I realized I was having trouble using the socket and wrench to tighten the bolts, so I really must have hurt my hand . Of course this put a 10 week delay in the project.
