Tafe 45 i, gear shifter hung up.

My Tafe 45 i, with mechanical sliding gear box with constant mesh 8 speed, will not shift into gear. Shifter in nuetral, tractor moves forward when clutch is released; when speed selector is moved to neutral tractor remains still.
Any ideas on how to get shifter to go into gear?
