Hey guys, 1st time poster, long time reader..
I have recently come across a TAFE 5040 4wd with an allied 395 FEL. Tractor is super clean with around 600 hours. No leaks, no knocks, ticks, or anything suspicious. Older gentleman owns it and uses it to pull a 6 ft rotary cutter and move hay around. He is selling to upgrade to a cab. The engine is a non turbo 2.7 simpson. My question is how reliable are these little tractors and how elusive are parts? I know some models cross over well to a Massey Ferguson, its just a matter of finding out which models cross. The guy is asking $11,000 for the little jewel. I will be replacing a 4000 ford with the tractor.
Local MF dealer thinks some parts cross to a MF 253 and a quick internet search shows that it shares the same engine as the later 2615 MF. The owner thinks its around an 09 model, however he has only owned it for the last 6 years. Previous owner bought it new and sold it with around 400 hours.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
