Truck Tailgate Dampers - AutoTruckToys.com I saw someone that had one, and when you open your tailgate it just lets it float down. I didn't know if it was worth the money or not.

(ezdown-dot-com) As Newblue says, no broken cables and for me, no broken hip as I try to catch that blasted heavy gate with both hands full of what-I'm-trying-to-load. Installed in minutes and has not given me a moment's trouble (hope that didn't jinx me now). Try one out, I think you'll like it too. Jeff
