It is my understanding that IF you (Americans) get the GST/PST back, you are supposed to report it as income to the IRS. Is this correct information I have?

That wouldn't be the case under normal circumstances. Presumably the money you pay the Canadian tax on is or has already had American income tax assessed on it. You are able to deduct foreign tax you paid, so if an American deducts GST on a tractor he bought in Canada but then receives a refund from Canada, he would be liable for that now false deduction

I apologize for upsetting you. In my reply, I was not referring to "you" specifically when I used the term "you". It was the general "you" that so many of us misuse when we should say "one". Actually, I think one of our Canadian members was more or less the "one" to whom my "you" was more or less directed. My bad. I agree with "you", I let my CPA do the cyphering and official decision making relative to taxation.

No apology needed. The quote cited was from me so I assumed the reply was directed at me. I see that it wasn't and it was a generalization.
It's the risk we sometimes take from looking at the written word, when we can't hear the tone, etc. from the spoken word. No offense taken.
