Does anyone know anything about a Takeuchi TB015 mini excavator? I am looking at one and I cant seem to find much info on it. It is a older model that seems to be in pretty good shape, I have no idea the year, it does have rubber tracks. The guy said it was a model from the 80's. I am just looking for a homeowner model so I don't need anything fancy. Any info on this or any other machine would be great.

find local dealer an d see if he can get parts used to be hard to get parts for the old gray market machines

Thanks, I have not started looking for a dealer yet. If anyone knows of one near Ohio please let me know. The guy that currently owns it says it is a 1987 model. Like I said just using it around the house so I hope it will not need anything major for a while. I have never bought a mini before what should I look for on the machine?

Almost all comments I hear about taks are positive. They seem to make good stuff but at least in my area the dealers are far and few between. For that reason I wouldn't consider one but if I had a good local dealer I would try one in a heartbeat. I don't know anything about your specific machine but check all the basic things like the wear on the pins and bushings and the wear on the undercarriage.

Don't know if this thread is still relevant but I own a TB015 and it works great. They are powered by a 3 cyl Yanmar so engine parts are no problem (think ebay!). I have had my for several years and it has been bullet proof. I did have to replace the fuel solenoid when I purchased it and reseal one cylinder (ebay again for the seals!) but that's been it. Mine was originally sold and serviced by a Georgia dealer in the Atlanta area. I'm not sure that the TB015 was ever gray market. It is a real handy homeowner machine, I use mine for everything from planting trees and bushes to trenching out a septic field. PM me if you need any detailed info.
