Took a few week long trips and right when I was getting good and relaxed it was time to load up and head back home /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I always envied those folks who got to stay at the beach another week. We're leaving Friday for Sanibel Island Florida. Anybody ever been there? Wonderful place with lots of natural wildlife habitat and miles and miles of bike trails.

I can't wait! I feel like a kid getting out of school for summer vacation! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You lucky dog! The family and I have never taken a two weeker. In fact most of the time we only take a long weekend. This coming weekend we are loading up and going to the Columbus OH zoo. It will be a good time. I have a nice hotel suite reserved so we can swim and lay around a little to. I have a 3 year old daughter, 17 month old son and a wife who is expecting our 3rd in October......so traveling can be interesting. Ever be stuck in traffic with a kid's diaper full of lincoln logs.....man what a stink those sweet kids of mine can produce!!! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

You're gonna love it cbf! We just got back from a family wedding in PA and are off to Maine soon. First time in several years we HAVEN'T taken a two week vacation but other things cropped up.

Sanibel is beautiful. Be sure to get out on Captiva as well. My mom winters north of there and has been down in the summer a few times. Her comment is that it's not that much hotter during the day but it doesn't cool off as much at night as we northerners are used to. You'll have a nice breeze off the gulf though.

Just make sure that breeze doesn't get too strong though. This is hurricane season down there. I wouldn't let it bother you too much but do take some time to understand the warning systems and evacuation routes... just in case.

But most of all, have fun and enjoy /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Cityboyfarmer,

It really takes two weeks to relax.

For 10 years my wife and I spent vacations working around the house.
Then 5 years ago we bought a 36 foot sailboat...

Now we spend many long weekends and at least one trip of two weeks or more on the boat...

Man, there is nothing like two weeks straight, except of course, three weeks straight.

Enjoy your trip and give those kids that bring you drinks on the beach a workout!

Regards,
Chris

Enjoy the holiday. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Enjoy it some for me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't get holidays no more since I'm retired. My boss is a mean old cuss that thinks a fellow should be working all the time.

Back when I was employable we worked a 12 hour rotating shift. Every 28 days we had one 7 day off period. If I could tie that to a weeks holiday was able to get 12 weeks off per year in six segments.

It's been a long time but from my memory there is nothing quite like the clam chowder at the Mucky Duck on Captiva. Have a bowl and a beverage and stroll on the beach as the sun sets. Life is good, vacations are great /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Have a good time! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We just got back from 8 days of vacation; wife, kids and me. Took in the Smokies(Arlene put down 3-4 inches of rain on us, so we left for Asheville), toured the mansion, drove to Nag's Head on the outer banks(101 degrees... that's hot). Seven year old daughter in ocean screams SHARK! SHARK! SHARK! and runs out howling... just dolphins /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. Virginia Beach, Busch Gardens in Williamsburg and the Columbus Zoo, too. Never knew the hills in western Maryland were so nice and that North Carolina is a loooong state to drive west to east. A beautiful drive, though.

Got home to weeds in the garden and tomato plants that are at least a foot taller than last week. Good to be home. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We are getting ready to take 30 days off and go to the left coast, from San Diego to Victoria, BC to Seattle with a side trip to Las Vegas and a lot in between. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifThe wife, 2 kids, 13 and 17, can not wait to get going in a few weeks. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif First time in 25 years taking that much time off in one shot.

We are here!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Arrived about 3:30 yesterday and found a VA10 computer with cable modem and a Sony flat screen monitor in the condo /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Had I known this in advance I would have brought my USB connector for my camera. If I happen across one while biking around the island I'll pick it up and post some photos.

Is technology great or what? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
