I use a couple of old bath tubs for stock tanks. I have been having trouble with algae growth in them. Aireation SHOULD help the problem. I'm trying to figure out how to convert wind power into an air "puffer". I have a couple of ideas, but just wondered if anyone else has any. Thanks!

I don't have the link anymore, but 6 or 7 years ago a friend researched a windmill air pump to keep a duck pond clear of ice during the winter. Bigger system then you are looking for but had some good concepts. Sorry I'm not more help, but the product is out there.

I saw an old windmill that had the sucker rod hooked up to a trucks air lift bag. He had a check valve added to the air bladder and it was doing a good job of aerating his pond without the help of electricity.

We always used to put a piece of copper in the tank to control algae.

Couple the windmill to an air pump of your choice. Run line to your tanks. In the bottom of the tank have a short piece of pipe with several small holes. Something like a rotary vane pump, or air compressor pump. I don't know how much "power" it would take to run an air compressor pump. It would have to run very fast to generate enough air.

What about have the windmill arm hooked to something like a bellow blower.

Other option is to add a couple goldfish.

I have a couple stock tanks in the 120g size and keep a couple goldfish in each... No bad algea problems in 6 years (yet).. and no mosquito larve...

They come ready made for koi ponds. Try http://www.pondaeration.com/

Air may help keep the water in better condition but I don't think it will clear algae. It will affect water condtions and affect the algae but if it's just algae you are worried about I doubt it will work to remove it.

I have a little compressor in the garage that uses about 45 watts and I run air tubing a couple hundred feet to a pond 24/7.

For an air pump, you can use an old 4 stroke engine. Have the windwill turn the drive shaft and connect your aerator to the exhaust.
