Tank swap, any advice

This saves me from starting a thread. I have 2 large O2 tanks (200 and 300?) And just got a tig torch, so I need argon and an argon/co2 flow meter. My tanks are partially full and 20 years past hydro though. I also have 2 40 cf acetylene tanks. Anyone hazard a guess what a hydro and 200 cf of argon will cost; $50? $100? $200? Or would I be cheaper to do 40 cf acetylene swap for 40 cf argon and avoid hydro

When I returned an old large O2 tank, that was long over due for recert, for an Argon tank I was charged $20 for testing. The exchange, large tank for large tank, was no charge. I guess it depends on the LWS.

I purchased my 80cuft CO2/Argon tank used from my LWS and it is simply swapped out with another for the cost of the gas. Seemed like the thing to do vs. buying a new tank or leasing. I think I like that arrangement. I assume this is typical?

I've done the same. 2x80cf mig mix and 2x80cf argon. Around here that's the largest you can have without leasing. I think the argon was almost $300 for the tank and fill.

That seems high... unless Argon is expensive. Or maybe its a Canadian thing? I will have to look it up, but I think I paid around $200 for tank and fill of 75/25.

For mig I use a trimix (with helium) but not certain what I pay for it. I think 65cf argon is around $30 and 80cf $40.
