We don't get the kind of cold you do, but when we expect a freeze, we water the ground around any plants/trees that are in danger and then cover the area to hold in the heat that will be escaping through the night.
I don't know if you could do this in the greenhouse as you would have to soak about 1" of water into the ground to get the benefit, and I guess you'd have to do it evey day.
