anyone use something like this?
Amazon.com : Classic Accessories Compact Utility Tractor Cowling Cover, Black : Garden & Outdoor

this year gc2400 will have to sit outside in snow, looking at something like that. next year will cut a hard cap on it. actual cabs not really good fit for me.

My thinking is to cover whole tractor or nothing.... Half cover seem half done...

Bug poly tarp and four spring clips worked well for me till I could get tractor into a lean to...

thought about that but I have wife acceptance factor, hood and seat clear from snow and easy to remove install by her big thing. she may have to use it on our road while I am away in truck. something like this little easier she thinks.

not possible this year. need to do lot of groundwork to do so and timing/money issue now. was not planning on purchasing until april 2021 or so but old craftsman (built 1999) gave up on me.

When I leave mine outside I cover the seat and the steering wheel each with a garbage bag. I tuck one bag under the seat to hold it in place, and the other i open the hood and then tuck it under before closing. This keeps the seat dry and helps prevent having the throttle cable freeze.

Been there, done that, sometimes its the only temporary solution. My GC didn't have a home for its first few years.

If you have to keep it outside, this is probably your best option. The engine compartment will fill with packed snow in a strong wind. A regular tarp will blow in the wind, no matter how well secured, and rub the paint off quite well wherever a loose area flops around. Don't depend on the sewn in elastic, use a few extra bungee cords to secure.

Might also want to check out RV type tire covers for the rears, the older tires will quickly become weather checked stored outside. In case this becomes more than just this year. Plans always have a way of changing.

If you not using it during the winter just buy a 25 foot by 25 foot tarp and bungy cord it around the tractor? I leave my BH outside every winter with a regular tarp over it. Dont need the expensive ones either.

If you do use it in the winter then this looks like a good option.

one side will be protected by a shed but due to shed roof design/shape and access to electricity/etc cannot just tarp off shed.
it will be used almost daily in snow season so tire covers would quickly become a PITA.

Ten years ago, before the tractor shed, before the HD tarp tractor shed (lasted 5 years..) there was just a tarp for my first tractor...

Hardware store tarp is going to be cheaper, and by the looks of the product in the link, will likely last longer, but either way, keeping the snow/ice away from the body-contact and linkage areas is a good thing, no matter how you do it. It's hard to tell how heavy that fabric is, but years ago I got a similar looking one for a walk-behind snowblower, and it only lasted a few years. The sun's UV destroys these fabrics pretty fast in any event, so consider whatever you buy sacrificial.
