Task Master 425A Alternator/Fan Belt replacement

Hi all, I seem to have misplaced the book for my Task Master Trooper 425A that would show the steps to install a new Alt/Fan Belt. This is a Y385 type engine with a solid forward shaft through the main crank pulley. If anyone can suggest how to separate the shaft in order to pass the new belt around the pulley, I would love to read it before I go exploring tomorrow morning!

I would just get a linked belt from Harbor Freight and forget about it. They last forever.

What Bob said. I have the Y485 engine and never could figure out how to get the belt off. When it broke I got the HF belt. Here's a link:

It's more expensive than I remember, but it was years ago. It also allows you to set your own length, I never could get the stock belt as tight as I wanted.

would this work for the hydraulic pump on a john deer front mount tractor? or is there some limit for these type of belts?
