Hello, I have a hard line to the first loader connection that is stripped. Can this fitting be removed and replaced, or does a new or used hard line need to be located? Many thanks. Jim
Jim, welcome to TBN; I think we'd need more info from you to help. No listing for "taskmaster" @ tractordata.com, so unless a membor HAS one it's kinda like saying "my car won't start, what's wrong?"
Things that'd help are whether your hard line is metric or inch dimensions, what type connections are on the end, whether the ends are straight or 90 degrees, etc -
One of our sponsors offers a good selection of fittings, etc, I've used them for several projects with no problems whatsoever - here's a good starting place to look for what you need
Also - if losing an inch or two of length on the damaged hard line won't be a problem, I've gotten flareless fittings from them that work fine for field repairs, etc - they fasten on the clean end of tubing like a Swagelok fitting, will handle full pressure, and come in either metric or inch sizes. Most of my stuff (see list at top left) is older and mostly JIC fittings, yours may not. DHH also has a good fitting chart that covers most any type you might encounter -
Guessing whatever your fitting types, they'll be metric - if you're not sure about any of this, that thread guide will probably help. also, if you don't already have a basic digital caliper that does metric AND inch, you should get one (and not just for that)... Steve
Oh, and if this is your first tractor (or similar equipment) be sure and ask here BEFORE you disconnect anything - the pressures involved (even with the motor shut OFF) can be enough to inject you with hydraulic fluid. The LEAST that means is extreme pain, and it can mean DEATH.
Always better to ask FIRST, there's very few bullies here that'll pick on ya for being CAREFUL... Steve
Just remembered you referred to it as a "hard line" instead of a pipe; that tells me you may already know most (or all) of what I just said. If so, don't read it
Mr. BukitCase, Thk. you for your reply, and safety precautions. This is my third tractor. Two Fords and one Taskmaster. Just a hobby. I will look into the Swagelok fitting. Turned 81 in Feb. Many Tks. Jim
