Good Evenin Guys,
I got some quality time on harrow repair this past weekend ! :)

The first job was to get the harrow up the road to my buddy Neils' house, first pic is chaining it up to the bucket and the second pic is going up the road to Neils' about a mile up the road. Good we dont get much traffic up here ! ;)

The third pic is removing the old section with a combination of disk grinder and oxy- acetelene torch.

The fourth pic is the new piece I made just tapped into position but not welded yet. I have a couple more pieces to make yet ! So far so good ! :)

So far, so good! Looks like minimal collateral damage while removing the old piece.

ANOTHER ONE SAVED FROM THE SCRAP HEAP!!!!!!!!

Mornin Bill,
Well she aint saved yet ! ;) :) But Im workin on it !

The plate that connects the two front gangs together and has the center hole for the pin location, determining the agressiveness of the discs needs to be fabricated. I started making a new one of those. Also some of the heavy duty threaded U-bolts have been broken and need to be replaced.

Good thing the fields arent waiting to get disced, cuz they might be waitin for awhile ! ;)

Afternoon Guys,
Well Im really moving along on this project !

Finally got around to fab the plate that connects the two front gangs together and also has the hole for different pin locations to change the aggressiveness of the disk. You will notice the filler plate welded on the new one, thats because I used a 1 1/2" x 2" bar to replace the origianal bar which was 2" x 2". Had to use that size because thats what was available from work for free ! ;)

Afternoon Guys,
This project aint dead yet ! ;) We welded in the replacement piece on the front gangs and that worked out well. I had to get it out of Neils' barn so put it back together and hooked it up to the 3 pt. I am gonna need to replace one of the wooden bearings inside the right front pillow block next. Im also gonna need to fix the rear bar that controls the agressiveness of the rear gangs also.

Good Afternoon Guys,
Sorry about bringing up a two year old thread, well not that sorry ! No sense starting a whole new thread.

Does anyone have an idea if the inner bearing spool that has a broken flange can still be purchased ?

The bad news is that I dont have my machining capabilities anymore, darn after 36 years, it seems pretty strange !

It might be possible to weld the flange back on, but it doesnt look like theres much there to weld !

I looked in Agri-Supply and couldnt find anything quite like I have.

Any ideas ?

Have you thought about using or making that one side a new sealed bearing set-up. Keep the extra old unit as a back-up. Just an idea.:)

I googled them. Call 'em @ 800-456-7929. Thatis the number for Taylor Pittsburgh Mfg., which still makes the Taylor-Way brand of equipment. They might still have your parts.
