Hi all,new guy here.
I am looking into buying a TC 21 tractor with loader , with a manual trans.
I have a couple questions about the type of clutch in a TC21 tractor .
I had a chance to drive/operate it for a while tonight.
I was supprised at how easy the clutch worked and how easy it was to shift foward / reverse.

Much easier than another tractor (different brand) i had tried out.

I am assuming that this is a hydraulic clutch ???

Is it what one might call a "conventional clutch" with a single dry clutch plate/disc?
Or something much more sophisticated?

I ask this because i plan on using this tractor for pretty much loader work only, and was curious of how the clutch would hold up to constant use with a loader?

Please keep in mind that i am not a stranger to operating equipment with a standard trans. ,but i was still looking for some info on how the clutch is set up in these tractors.
Also , the tractor already has 900 hours on it , with a lot of loader use.

thanks

Joe

Welcome to the forum.

The clutch in the TC21 is a dry, automotive-style diaphram clutch.

It should hold up well, provided you don't slip it too much.

I had a TC24 with the 9/3 tanny, great little tractor for it's size. If you're planing to work with the loader i sugguest adding weigh to the rear, this tractor is a little light. The only thing i didn't like about it is that the pto is trans driven, with a rear snowblower it's a real pain, cause when you press in the clutch to stop the tractor, so does the blower.

Thanks for the answers .

The guy i am trying to buy it off of said that it seems a bit light in the back end, and usually uses a counterweight when doing any serious loader work .

The guy that owns it now has never used the pto , and it is not likely i will ever use it either , so it shouldn't be a problem for me with the trans driven pto..........

Joe.
