Are your front tires real worn?

Brad - never had that issue on my TC18 (680 hours when sold). Though I will mention that it was rare that I needed 4wd on grass or gravel. Exceptions being aerating the grass & ground engaging on the gravel. I tend to run in 2wd until she slips, then shift to 4wd.

Have you inspected the linkage to make sure you didn't bend something? Does it move freely in & out with the front tires lifted off the ground?

Soundguy,

Tires are evenly worn, even measured the tread depth, within 1/32". Pressure is right where its supposed to be.

Hazmat,

I use 4wd for loader work mostly so I have braking power on the front. All other times I'm in 2wd. Lever moves easily when there is no tension on the system, which I can relieve either by changing direction or turning right and then left while under way. It always used to slide in and out of 4wd while moving with no effort. Its only lately that I've noticed the wind-up. It doesn't get so bad that I scuff tires (other than a sharp turn, which is normal), but it definitely winds up a lot of tension and it really pops when I take it out.

What do you have on the rear for counterweight? I found that I really needed to ballast (800#+) my TC18 for satisfactory loader performance even with loaded rear tires. Your loader has 200# more lift capacity than my 7106 did too. Pretend you don't have 4wd, how much weight would you need to add to the three point to feel safe? The short wheelbase really does you in.

Check out this thread tractor ballasting and this one FEL ballast

I run loaded turfs and always have an implement on the back for loader work. Hills and other uneven terrain, I like the comfort knowing I have 4 wheels braking for me. That short wheel base along with the extra reach out front with the curved arm FEL can make it a real rocking horse without any ballast for sure!
