I'm looking at selling my TZ24DA and upgrading to a TC35 with FEL or 33, possibly a 30 if the deal is right. I've seen a few videos on youtube involving problems IE: front axle mount welds breaking, and FEL hydro valve issues. Are these common? Also are there any other problems you've had along the way that are notable?

I don't have any issues with welding brackets, or rebuilding valve bodies. But It would be good to know how common these problems are. I've really enjoyed my experience with my TZ, and would love to stick with New Holland. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,
I have a 2003 New Holland TC35. It is just a Plain Jane 2wd tractor. Its tires are loaded, and it has the deluxe 3ph which makes changing implements a breeze. Its front axle does not look weak to me, and it doesn't look like it will ever give any problems. My neighbors all have Kubotas, Yanmars, and Kiotis, and they all say that I bought the "premium" tractor. The only "failure" its ever experienced was a Bosch module timer that controlled the glow plugs. You will probably go with a 4wd model, and its axle should be stronger than the 2wd version.
Buy Blue and everybody else "sees Blue!" Haha!

Good fortune!

Thank you very much Scot! I'm glad to hear it's been a good tractor for you. If you don't mind me asking, what's your application for the TC?

Mine is mostly dragging a harrow, moving dirt, clearing brush, and eventually a small hay operation (500-800 small square bales a year). I think the 35 would do just fine for that.

Regards,

Chris

Hey Chris,
Well I guess my previous answer was misplaced. The story of my life. If my kids would put my stuff back where I had it, and my wife stopped putting my stuff up, it wouldn't take both hands and all day for me to find my rear end!
But anyway, I mow 4 acres at home. I bush hog a 3/4 mile long and 60 ft wide pipeline right of way and maybe 3-5 miles of trails at my hunting lease. I maintain a 1/4 mile of 2 lane dirt road that mine and 7 other families live on. I do my 225 ft long driveway and several of my neighbors too. I use all these implements: Bush Hog RDTH60, an ancient Bush Hog Model 12, Howse 6 ft box blade, Jabar 6 ft grader blade, Howse middle buster for pointing ditches, Worksaver 30 inch dirt scoop, Howse PHD. I am slowly gathering materials to build a 6 ft leaf/pinestraw rake. I want a heavy duty 7 or maybe 8 ft grader blade. After 12 years I loaded all 4 tires with water, and man, what a difference!
Just remember that my tractor was new in 2003, and I'm not sure how much they have changed. I can't stop at the New Holland or the GMC dealerships "just to look" because those puppies follow me home!

Good Fortune!

Looks like it gets it's fair share of work, as well as yourself! I hope your neighbors compensate you for all your kind doings. Sounds like you have good time, and I'm glad to hear its been a solid tractor for ya. There is a 4x4 TC35 with FEL down the road from me for 13k, and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger. I seems to be in fair shape! I just need to get the TZ24 sold.. Ha ha

Hey Chris, like everything you own and paid your good hard earned money for, don't scrimp on its maintenance! I use Wix filters all the way around. Shell Rotella T 15W40. I use the (very expensive) New Holland hydraulic/trans/rear end fluid (but have been investigating the Coastal Multitrac by Warren). Watch the fuel filter for loading up with "mud." Out where I live, two country stores sell offroad diesal. One is literally always dirty and will completely plug the fuel filter in one tank full. The other is a sparkly red color and very clean. Usually once per summer i will run 10 gallons of tax fuel to get away from the red dye. I usually use marine grease in all the alemites because its good for the boat trailer hubs. I know New Hollands are great tractors. My Kioti, Kubota, Case, and Yanmar owning friends all agree that I have the "Premium" tractor of the bunch!
Good fortune with the new tractor!

Scott
