Hi All, I'm a noob. We've had our TC33d since my father bought it new in 2003 or 2004. He passed away a few years back and I just brought it to my new home last fall to clear snow with.

Anyways, I'll get to the point. I have to same coolant leak that I've seen a few people mention, where the spigot next to the oil filter corrodes and leaks where it goes into the engine. I ordered the part from New Holland and installed it. This is where my issue differs. The part I took off and the new one I installed have a brass shut off valve on it. A lot of the ones I've seen pictures of on here don't have that brass screw. Mine is now leaking like a siv.

I spoke with an old friend who used to be a New Holland Mechanic, and he said I could probably just close it. In my mind this doesn't look like a valve that should be closed, especially a lot of the other ones don't have that shut off. Does anyone on here know if this is critical to the flow of coolant or is this just there to feed the main drain valve?

I'm open to any ideas any of you have. I thought of maybe trying teflon tape, however not sure can take the temps.

Thanks in advance for any ideas anyone has.

Best,

Matt

Many times they will leak at the zinc threaded bib that screws into the engine block. (picture) I replaced mine with a brass piece and never had a problem. Is your "leak" from the valve that connects to the bib with a hose? It will have the needle drain screw with a locknut. They always seem to leak AFTER you tighten the locknut because the nut pulls the needle valve away from the seat. Try just tightening the center valve and leave the nut loose as that is what worked for me.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give that a try. Mine is leaking from the centre valve. The old one was corroded and leaking at the block. That's good now, but I can't stop the drip coming from the brass bolt in the new part. I'm. I'm starting to be convinced I have a defective part. I've even added teflon tape to the needle drain screw and it's still leaking (Not sure if the teflon will stand up to the heat but I was at my wits end). My next step will be go the brass fitting route if I can't get it soon.

Thanks again for the quick response.

I'll keep you posted if I find a solution.

Somebody screwed up when that part was substituted for the original. The leak comes from the radiator side of the common drain when the block drain screw is closed. It is guaranteed to leak unless you put thread sealer on the drain bolt and lock it down several threads from fully seated. Alternatively you could screw it all the way in, lock it down and do away with the common drain feature.

Thanks @RickB. I'm going to try the thread sealer today. What a dumb setup.

I had the same issue with my TC25D. I replaced the block fitting with the new one that has the needle bolt in it. I used teflon tape and mega lock on the threads to the block. I came out the next morning to find the bolt dripping from the rad side. At that point I seperated the drains and capped one side of the drain on the frame. This was good for a few weeks then the block threads started leaking again. I took it apart again and used a loctite thread sealer on the block threads and it has been dry for 8 months now. Hopefully it stays this way. I also made a 27mm socket to take the block fitting in and out.20200711_134815.jpg20200711_103112.jpg20200711_134724.jpg
