TC-35 glow plug light and more

Hi guys, I have a 20ish year old TC-35. When I start it the glow plug light stays on for a while. Even if it is warm and I did not use the glow plugs. There is another strange symptom though which I think is related. The tractor sometimes has a loud fan belt sounding squeal. It reminds me of the screech of a 1980s VW Jetta fan belt. Whenever it squeals like this two other things happen, the glow pug light comes on and the tachometer RPMs drop even though engine RPMs do not drop. What is going on here?

For the second issue the belt squeal;
I would assume your fan belt is slipping that runs the alternator.
It could be that the glow plugs are turning on with the engine running and the electrical load is making the belt slip.
The alternator is what is providing the tach signal for rpm, so when the belt slips the alternator is slowing down and shows as reduced rpm.

That makes sense, and I'd think changing the fan belt would not be too hard. Maybe a relay for the glow plugs or something?

You may not need to change the fan belt. They do have a tension adjust.

Same belt issue with my TC29D and the belt. My belt is very loose, belt dressing spray did help but it's back again. I just need to tighten it. I just checked the factory service manual and the tach gets it's reading from the "P" lead off the alternator.
