I have a 2001 TC35 D for several years now, and have a hydraulic oil leak that I cannot find. It is under the hood, and only occurs when the engine is hot. My problem is the fan catches the oil and sends it everywhere. With everything soaked and dripping, it is difficult to determine the source. When under warranty it was brought into a NY dealer shop where they steam cleaned and dryed everything. They changed my transmission cooler which they stated had a hairline crack in the plastic housing causing a leak under pressure. It was fine for a while, now the same problem is back. Could this part be faulty again? I am new to North Carolina and do not know where to take it to now. I am no longer under warranty. Any suggestions? Does anyone have the same or similar problem? Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Those coolers were problematic for quite a while before a better unit was sourced by NH. We spent a bunch of time replacing used junk coolers with brand new junk coolers. The latest level oil cooler is doing just fine. There are several TBN'ers here from NC that may be able to steer you toward or away from specific dealers in your area.

Thanks Rick for your input. Do you think New Holland will make good on it, if it is that same cooler problem? I am going to try and clean the mess up and see if I can find the leak source before trailering it down to a dealership. I found one in Asheboro. Thanks again

Wouldn't it be easier to to get a new oil cooler from the dealer and replace it versus trailering the tractor to the dealer? Or are they harder to replace than on the Class II Boomers?

First off, check the clamps on the cooler hoses. My TC18 (much smaller but.........) had a spray of oil over the place after a year of ownership. It was a loose clamp from the factory, or just loosened up.

if it is the same problem that you had under warrenty, i would imagine it should still be covered(if you have the documaton) i would check before you do anything yourself.

if you replace the cooler yourself make sure where the lines connect to the cooler it looks like it has a washer welded on rite at the cooler. I have heard of dealers replacing coolers with the original one from there inventory instead of the updated unit. it is quick and easy to swap out @15 min

Most dealers were screaming to NH for an improved cooler long before one was available. We were forced to continue using an inferior design simply because there was no acceptible alternative. It is unlikely that very many of the prior level coolers were installed after the current level part was available.

RickB and tractornate, I'm attaching a photo of my transmission cooler on my TC45D. I believe it is the old style, but maybe you can point out the difference with this picture. I've not had any problems with my cooler, but I'll sure keep an eye on it if it's the old style.

You were absolutely correct! My old dealership swapped the first defective cooler with one from another machine he had. I found this out when I was at a new dealership today. The computer doesnt lie. There is an upgrade on the cooler. I have it on order and this new dealer is attempting to get New Holland to back my warranty as the problem still existed. New cooler is approx. 180 bucks. I hope I will be covered. Thanks
