Greensboro Tractor dealership in North Carolina came across big time. They covered my transmission cooler and even gave me hydraulic fluid to replace what I lost. I changed over the cooler with no problems. The worst part was cleaning up all the spent oil from the leak. What a Mess! Dealer advised me of a recall on the PTO brake on these machines. Just another thing to worry about. My motto is if it aint broke, dont mess with it.

Does anyone have a serial number range on the affected tractors yet?

There is a group of tractors, but not all within the range. If you guys want to PM me with your model and S/N, I will check the list. The '01 probably falls well outside the range, I think recalled units are all 'A' models.

The new style cooler has what appears to be a nut welded between the inlet and outlet nipples of the cooler just after the connection of the hoses right at the very top of the unit. You definitely have the older style. The two hoses on the sides should be clamped to lessen the vibration which can lead to failure. Stress causes the hairline cracks at the top near the base of the stems.

Thanks for the info. I think someone else mentioned that the hoses could be clamped to ease the stress at the connection point. I'll look into doing that soon. My tractor has 800 hours and I'd like to get many more out of that cooler. My hoses were replaced when my tractor was almost new due to battery acid damage. Maybe the new hoses were installed with less stress than the factory setup. I also wonder if the 3-cylinder TC35 engine has more vibration than the 4-cyl TC45 engine?

I'm glad your problem worked out so well. Maybe your tractor will stay clean now. I hate the smell of hydraulic fluid worse than the smell of engine oil. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Do you have a service bulletin number or part number for this repair?

I have a copy of the service bulletin, but nowhere does it have a number. The new part numbers are :87301196 for the cooler and 9706732 for the clamps. They state this change should be made for all tractors begining with serial #G601817. Hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
