Performed maintenance on my TC 40 (all filters) and when putting the fuel filter back on it will not fill with fuel once fully tightened and the tractor won't start. It will turn over but not start. I read where the air in the lines should be removed automatically as the tractor cranks over however, the bowl will not fill any higher.

When I loosen the bowl, it does fill up with fuel but leaks out....

Any suggestions on what I am doing incorrectly? I've replaced this filter before with no problems but this has me baffeled as I don't think I did anything different....

Thanks

There should be a bleed valve on the top side of the injection pump, slotted hex head, which should bleed the filter and the fuel pump. Open it with the tractor off and wait for the solid stream. If you don't get it, you may have to turn the engine over till you do. You will probably have to bleed the injector lines also, by loosening the nut at the top of the injectors and turning the engine over again. Good luck!!!

I have the same tractor. When I change fuel filter I turn the fuel off, remove filter, replace with new filter, don't tighten completely, turn on fuel and let fuel fill bowl and run over slightly, tighten bowl, and have never had to bleed at bleed port above pump, and also never at injectors. Try just cracking the fuel bleed port and turn engine over till fuel flows and then close it off. You should be ok then.
