I was wondering if anyone knew the part number for the glow plugs in a TC 40D? I was searching Messicks for a half hour and couldn't find the glow plugs!

Thanks Mike

If I may ask, what type of problems were you having and how do you know you need a new glowplug?

Well I was just having some of the same problems as everyone else. Tractor cold no glow plug light, after it starts and runs shut it down and light works. Sometimes light will cycle for a while after tractor starts. We received the snow and ice here yesterday and went to use the tractor last night and no glow plug operation. Fired the tractor anyhow without the glow plug light used it and put it away and this am the light comes on like it's supposed too.
Removed the timer and popped the cover off and the board looks perfect no corrosion on any thing and the spades on the timer and the plug look excellent, go figure. Maybe its the switch starting to go bad I don't know. At any rate I just want it to work when I need it. Thats why I was looking at prices and trying to find the cost of everything because I hate having .... that is unreliable.
This site and you guys are awesome and I am pretty good at repairs if I have the knowledge available about the piece of machinery. I've found several fixes to my tractor here ie: steering wheel gas strut repair, petcock in radiator bypass to heat engine up in winter, and hopefully this glow plug problem too. I really think you guys know more than my NH dealer who knew nothing about those things other than buy a new strut.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS AND THANKS!
Mike

They work warm but not cold. Expansion from heat is causing them to work. I would remove all connections from starter switch to glow plugs themselves and make sure every connection is clean and tight; and do not forget the dielectric grease. When you remove the starter switch, examine it closely; this may be the culprit. Check all wiring also, looking for a bad ( cracked wire).
After that; it is time to check with a meter when the problem happens and then trace voltage to the faulty part.
