we bought our tractor in January, and noticed immediately that it had a loud hydrostatic squeal, much louder than our old tc 33d, so we know it is not normal. this was one of our first tractors with a factory cab. NH admitted they had a problem and for the last 6 months have been trying to cure it with no luck. They have changed the stlye of filters and oil, this made it worse. It gets worse after it warms up.

The cab A/c has never worked proper, and after 2 visits from our dealer, it still doesnt work.

The ride of this tractor seems very nice all winter long, snowplowing and hauling wood, we were happy with it all except for the squeal. The squeal is so bad that the neighbors know every time we move it, and we live in a VERY rural town.

We started doing hay in june, using the tractor for teddering and raking, and immediately noticed a SEVER bouncing problem, which hurts our necks and back everytime we drive it, this tractor simply cannot be used for this purpose, and this is why we bought it. the dealer knew this before we bought it.

When we presented the problem to the dealer he offered a TN75 for 300.00 a month extra on top of our already high payment. WE have told him for several months that we will be returning this tractor if it issnt fixed, however, now NH and the dealer can only offer to take this tractor if they can make a new sale of a larger tractor to us.

The larger tractor is not what we need, we want a 40 horse to get around the farm on, not a 75... Kubota has a very nice tractor, the M5040 which we would love to have, however NH and our dealer will not work with us on this lemon...

after reading my story, what would you do if you were in my shoes...

thanks for reading my long post... wish me luck

ask for your money back minus hours you used it. Check your state for lemon law. Good Luck. Ask for a TC45 which may not up your payment as much

Ask your dealer to try another tractor to compare the transmission noise. My impression is that your cab is "capturing" the HST whine and making it louder than it seems without a cab. If you cannot objectively make a comparison in decibels, then I don't think you will have much success as long as the transmission functions normally.

What does "...never worked proper...." mean? Does it not cool at all? What is the temperature of the air coming out of the evaporator? Those are the objective numbers you need to justify it as a non-working AC. I have been skeptical of AC in a cab on a 45 hp tractor from the beginning. If all the pressures are proper and the system is cooling at all, it may be hard to prove that the AC is not working properly. What is the spec? What does NH say the cab temperature should be?

The rough ride is a function of the short wheelbase length in the TC. You can't get around that. Any other compact with a similar wheelbase will ride exactly the same. You can load the tires and then keep them at less than 20 psi to soften the ride, but this is not going to make a huge difference in my opinion.

I think you should have asked for a demo before buying this tractor. We all have "jumped" too quickly into deals and found that something was not what we expected. Now NH only has to fix your problems. They are not bound to replace your tractor unless it is unserviceable. I'd "bug" that dealer over and over to fix the issues you can objectively demonstrate. Going in and asking for your money back is probably a futile exercise.

The rough ride will vary depending on terrain, and all fields are different. I think filled tires will improve your ride though. It won't make it a smooth ride, but will reduce many of the bad bounces. I would probably fill all 4 tires if it were me. And as jinman sugested, lower the air pressure a bit too.

As an addition to what jinman said.. Drive it on asphalt.. does it bump that way? If so.. look a tthe tires.. got any bent rims or tires with knots? If she runs smooth on asphalt.. then it is just as Jinman said.. terain.. and a tractor with no suspension... that's what suspension seats are for.

There was another thread on here about hydro whine.. i don't recall whose it was.. but there was some loud whine.. but his was loud tot he point you could capture it on a video cam.

Try to get an identical unit and run both of them.. perhaps at the dealers lot.. see what, if any difference there is.

redyj,
First, Welcome to the forum! It really is a great place to find information.
I have the tc45da. At first I thought the hydro was a loud also, but after using the tractor for a while I have figured things out a little. The cab does in fact trap more noise verses an open platform. My hydro gets quiet though after things warm up.
I haven't had a problem with the a/c yet also. Unless you consider it getting to cold a problem. After being in there for a while in 90+ heat. I have to turn the thermostat up a little.
The only time I have noticed a hard bounce is in rough terrain like riding over a plowed field. My property is mostly flat and smooth and I stay comfortable while mowing. Which is mostly what I do with the tractor.
I agree with the rest of the guys. I would try to compare with another model. I'm not sure how much time you have had in a cab tractor with hydro. It took me a while to get use to it. But again, it does get quiet after use. The a/c does sound like a problem compared to mine. I wouldn't think the hp difference would be the cause though. And as for the bounce,....I have no idea. Driving on a hard flat surface is a good start.
Anyway, I hope things work out good for you. Good luck!

We have driven on roads since winter and no problem. My hydro gets worse on warm up and in hard use. Dealer changed filters and put new style oil in now its even worse. Ac needs to go back to dealer ,Glad to hear your AC is great Maybe i can get that squared away

I know on my 33d the hydro whine was real loud and the fluid was at the middle of the dip stick. Some one here suggested adding more fluid and I took the level up to the top mark, really made the noise a lot better. Try adding more fluid.

1. Your dealer sucks, something awful, go somewhere else, right now.

2. I have both a TC and a TN
The TN is a MUCH better tractor than the TC.
I would never try to run hay equipment with the TC, just not big enough and sturdy enough to handle that beating. You need to be in a utility class tractor (see point 1 above) to be doing hay.
3. My fully equipped TN75DA was less than 8k more than my TC45DA. That's NOT $300 extra a month. (see point 1 above)
4. The TC rides terrible, no argument. Worse than my MF 1433 (compact), I even loaded the tires, makes no difference. It wants a smooth surface, it will go fast over rough surfaces, but beat you to death while doing it.

I agree about the air conditioning in the TC (it rules in the TN)

redyj,

As Soundguy said, if your noise is an intermittent grinding / grating noise, search for a previous thread started by me in Jan 2007. Maybe it can help. Post if you have a similar issue and need more info.

I hope you get it resolved. This site is the best.
