I'm at 45 hours now & am getting ready to do the 50 hour service (maybe this weekend If I get enough seat time before then).

Has anybody done one on a class 1 boomer yet? Any gotcha's I need to look out for? Ya know, Like if you take off the left front wheel while standing on your head it makes getting the oil filter off with your right pinkee easier provided you did a rain dance three moons prior to attempting the service/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Any special tools make the job easier (I'm always looking for an excuse for a new tool).

Hazmat, I'm not a great person to ask, but you sure made some great excuses for dealer service. I've tried to grease my TC21, but I always worry about something, that I'm missing. We as owners don't have as much knowledge as the dealers do. I've got 135 hrs on mine, and will take my tractor to the nearest dealership for yearend service. I guess I'm a bit of a stick in the mud about $14000. I still love the post "standing on your head"./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Good Luck, Kent

The 50 hour service is a snap. Have some hydraulic oil for when you change the hydraulic filter. Be careful when you change the fuel filter, follow the owners manual on this it will help out. I didn't and spent about an hour bleeding the entire fuel system. No special tools are needed, unless you need to bleed the fuel injectors. I don't remember the size but you can get a set of flare nut wrenches. It maybe 17mm? As for Steelfans comment about the grease fittings, I have put little yellow grease caps on my fittings, that I bought from Mcmaster Carr. Much easier to find. Good luck!

Hey that's a good idea, Solo ! I bought a claw headed vise grip for the fuel bowl lock ring , that job is a pain with the FEL on ! But you're right ,the whole job is pretty simple.I changed to the F200 oil and there's a lot less whine from the HST in cold weather. I also changed the front differential oil and found that they put gear oil in at the factory . The book calls for 134! dass

Thanks for the info guys. I'll be stopping by the dealer in the next couple days for the supplies. I'm at 47 hours now. One more lawn cutting (scheduled for friday) and some other random seat time and I'll turn the big 5-0

Wow! 50 hour on the clock already, you just got that machine. Is the little woman getting jealous yet?

I put about 2 hours on the clock (less actual time) each time I mow. With all that rain in June, I was mowing every 5 days! The lawn still hasn't burned up yet. I think that's one advantage of having the stream smack in the middle of the property, everything drains towards it & makes what little rain we got in July go a little further.

She isn't jealous yet, every little project I do she says, wow that looks so much better! I think I've inspired her to get more involved in the lawn & garden, she spent 4 hours weeding the flower beds yesterday. She also has learned how to vacuum the pool. She's always been one to keep the house tidy, now she is transfering that to the yard /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif We both get satisfaction of seeing the results of our hard work.

She wants to mow the lawn now that we've got the MMM. She hasn't bugged me too much yet, maybe I'll show her next week - I'm still having too much fun with the new toy, er I mean tool.

I am on the hook to refurbish the dining room this month! new paint, new floor!

Refurbish the dining room. That sounds like a Febuary project while the tractor is hibernating.

Nope, its an August project because the wife is a teacher and is on summer break. She likes to keep busy. At least the dining room will be productive. She spent yesterday helping her friend who is getting married next weekend work on her wedding tan! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

In related news,

Picked up the goodies for the 50 hour service:

4 qts oil
1 gal Hydro oil
oil filter
HST filter
Hydraulic filter
fuel filter

Grand total $89 I know I've been forewarned, but still a tough pill to swallow. Good thing the service intervals get longer.

I did my 50 hour myself. Take your time and follow owners manual. I will be taking it in for the next service though, I just want the dealer to look it over before the waranty is over.
