I am a long time reader, first time poster. I am looking to purchase a compact tractor to help take care of my 12 acres. I have about 2 acres of lawn to mow and 3 arces of pasture to brush hog. The other 7 acres are timber. I need to maintain my 400 foot driveway (gravel and relatively flat). I just built a house last fall and I have finish grading and seeding my lawn to do this spring. I have been looking for about two months and have decided on either the TC21D or the JD4110 (sorry Kubota fans) both equiped with the following:

Hydro 4WD
60" MMM
FEL w/54" bucket
folding ROPS
R4 Industrial Tires

Both units are priced the same $16000.

I have test drove both units and both are excellent. I am just wondering if anyone has any comments (good or bad) on either of these two units. Is the price for these 2 units good?

Thank you for your input.

One comment...My memory might be a bit faulty, but didn't the 4100 have an aluminum rear axle? Not sure if that's the case with the 4110, but for my money, I'd rather have heavy, reliable iron as on the TC21/D.Later,Jay

I read the thread on aluminum rear axle on the JD4100 but does anyone know if the new 4110s have the aluminum rear axle?

For your info the NH has a combination of aluminum and cast iron components on the rearend unit. I'm sure it is similar to JD. That aside it seems price is a little high for the NH. I think both are comparable. Maybe you should consider dealer, sales and service after the sale to sway your decision. Tom

Price seems a little high on the NH, but does seem to vary greatly from region to region. I wouldn't be concerned with the aluminum or alloy parts on the JD. I think you would be happy with either unit. Dealer service and availability may be of some concern. I personally own a TC 21D I got last February. 65 hours with no problems. I paid $14,900 with FEL w/ 60 inch HD bucket, folding ROPS, loaded rears, rear work light,R-4's and block heater. The final decision is yours and you won't be unhappy with either unit.

I purchased a TC21D, 7106 FEL, Turf tires, 5' rear finishing mower, and 5' Rhino cutter last year for $16,600, excl. tax. Although I was very pleased with the TC21D, I recently traded it in on a TC29D that was a better fit for me and the work that I do.
