All, my first post here trying to understand symptoms and fixes.
My TC24DA has hydraulic power steering motor under the steering column. Last week while taking a hard right turn; I lost steering ability.
The steering will "spins freely" in both left/right direction; and does not turn the front wheels.
There is no grind or groaning sounds.
There are no visible signs of hydraulic fluid leakage. (All other hydraulic components are functioning ok)
Now for an interesting twist on these symptoms. If I lift straight up on the steering wheel (about a 1/16 inch play) it engages the steering and the wheels turn!
I confirmed the steering 'nut' on the center of the wheel is secure and not loose.
Looking at exploded view - I'm suspect of a 'pin' sheer could be the problem. I plan to take it apart this weekend and see what I can determine.
Maybe other's have had this experience or future members will learn from this too.
- Cheers
