Let me start by saying this is an excellent web site. Now to get to my questions I would like to know if anyone ever asks themselves if they went to big on a tractor purchase I was stuck between buying a tc25d with a NH fel and a woods 65inch box scraper $16,500 or buying a tc18 with a NH fel 60 inch belly mower and a 60 inch woods box scraper $15,000.The biggest question I have is will I have a problem mowing w/my tc25d when I do buy the belly mower[60"NH] in the future. I only have 1 acre of land but it needs a lot of work work leveling it and removing cut down trees etc... I have 220 ft of driveway and there are a few sharp turns in the yard. I tested
both machines at the dealer but the tc18 kept spinning the tires when the box scraper would get some dirt in it where as the tc25d kept right on pulling I just want to feel more confident about its mowing capabilities I am over joyed at the power of the tc25d, it and the options I got are awsome thanks for any input. Sorry about the sentence run ons but I am tired. Thanks again

Did you try the TC21D? The TC25 was to big a tractor for my needs too. I wanted full hydro so i went with the 21D and it dont spin with the loader and has plenty of power. The 60" belly mower cranks the lawn out too. I mow 4 1/2 ac.

I didn't try the tc21d because power was not as much of an issue as weight and the tc18 had enough power to spin the tires thanks for the input have fun w/your tc21d.

Also the dealer said for the price diff. I would be better off to have the weight of the 25d rather than the 21d thanks again.

Go big, in fact why not a 30 or 33D. Same frame as the 25 but just more power. You won't regret it. I have a 40D and use a 72" mower and brush hog and 84" scraper blade.

With one acre, a TC18 should be able to serve all your needs well. You seem to like the power and weight of the TC25 for boxscraping. If that is important enough to you to justify the additional cost, I don't think the mowing issue--which was your specific question--should affect your decision.

You will be using the same 60" belly mower on both machines. Each has more than enough power to mow an acre. The weight of neither should be an issue for mowing (as opposed to boxscraping). The only difference would be that the 18, being somewhat smaller, would be slightly more maneuverable. But I think the maneuverability difference would be so small as to be irrelevant. I went from a BX to a 2910, which is about a 5 model jump in the Kubota line, and was very worried about the maneuverability issue. It turned out to be not much of an issue at all. If your dealer has a dirt or gravel lot, you can drive circles with the 18 and 25 and compare the inside diameters. They will probably be close. You can always mow with the FEL off to improve maneuverability with any tractor.

What you may want to rethink is how important, and how frequent, is the boxscraping requirement. I personally think boxsrapers are oversold items and are of limited use to many compact users. Sometimes it is better to hire someone to do a one time levelling job than to base a longterm tractor decision on that issue.

Some thoughts.

I always think bigger is better. If you have a use for more weight to pull, you made the right choice. I would say (& I have seen others say it on this board as well) you should always buy the most tractor you can afford. You can never go wrong with a beefier, more powerfull machine. More power!!! ough ough ough /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks again, today I went to my dealer[ Buffalo Tractor] and got a heavy duty blade for the front of my bucket, looks like it is made of 1/2'' steel and it is reversable while I was there I sat on every tractor that was in my price range and I think with out doubt I made the right choice I am a big guy and the easy entry/exit of the tc25d is a big plus and how about that spring loaded seat COMFORT- AHHHH !!!! Thanks again anyone who responded you helped me feel great about my purchase. See Ya !
