I'm down to the above 2 choices. The NH dealer has a '99 TC25D that was used for 475 hrs. at the NH combine factory, and can sell it as new, with a warranty. It has hydro-FWA, super-steer, mid-PTO and new turf tires all around. He wants $11K for it. The Woods/DuAl 60" loader is $4150, and the Bush Hof 60" finish mower is $1850, for a total of $17K. (update: he just called and went to $16,500)
The JD dealer will sell me a 4200 with 4WD, Hydro, mid-PTO, turf tires, dual hydralics, with a 420 61" loader and rear 60" finish mower for $19K. Mind you, this is all about $15K higher than my initial budget, but I've decided to get something newer than an 8N. :>)
I'll be doing the usual acreage stuff like pushing snow around, occasionally moving some dirt, and mowing the yard and runways (I fly ultralights).
I have the Boomer on loan out there now, and I sure do like the supersteer, as well as the cheaper price. He gave me a "discount" of $5K for the hours.
Comments are welcome.

I just had a tc25d delivered 3 weeks ago and I paid 3,200 dollars for the New Holland loader I think you are getting an excellent deal on the tractor. I think I would check the price of a New Holland loader I have seen prices between 3,150 and 3,600 for their loader.I also have to say this is an excellent tractor so far it has done more work in its 11 hours than I could have in 4 weeks good luck with whichever color you buy .

After looking at the Woods/DuAl loader, I didn't really care for it. I asked about the NH loader and he said he'd get me one for the same price. Since the 25 didn't come equipped loader-ready, that's why the price seems a bit high. We found that out looking at JD's 420 loader for $2625, trying to figure out why there was such a large price discrepency.
With the NH loader, I'm pretty much decided to go blue. Just need to decide whether to go with a belly mount or 3-point mower, now.

Now the JD guy calls up and drops his price to $18,600 for a 4200 with 60" belly mount mower and a 420 loader with a 61" HD bucket. I don't think I've ever been courted so much! :)

I have to start with saying I love my blue machine. I would also think about a couple things in this decision. The Deere is NEW it will have zero hours on it & you will always know exactly how it was used, abused & maintained from day one. The same cannot be said about the NH. Also based on a minimal life expectancy of 3000 hrs the NH is 15.8% "used up" & the price should certianly reflect that. If you were to trade in a tractor I think that it would quite probably see more than a 15% deduct in value. I would require a minimum of $2900 off the new sticker before even talking to a dealer on a deal like this. (based on a really really cheap depreciation rate of about $6.00 / hr) I am a numbers person so... I would find out how much the same dealer would charge for the same unit with 0 hours before making the leap. Mainly because if you get it & don't like it after a while, you don't want to be in a huge negitive equity situation when you go to trade it in. Just my opinion.

Well, I bought the Boomer last night. I went over to the JD dealer and convinced him to let me drive the 4200 over next door to the NH dealer. I was able to sit both side-by-side, and drive one right after driving the other. After a half-hour of this, I can say that the Boomer is a better tractor. Final discount over the 4200 was $2250. I still get the full factory warranty, too.

You obviously made an informed decision and you got the tractor you wanted. What more can you ask for? Congratulations!/w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif Now go get that blue tractor dirty!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
