I drove a '99 NH 25D yesterday and a Kub B7500. Here are my unfiltered thoughts on the experience.

The controls on both tractors were basically the same. No real difference in location, availability, comfort, etc. Not sure if the Kubby had cruise but the NH had a button readily available on the console. The "ride" of the NH was noticably better. Of course, this was hardly an apples-to-apples because of weight, tire size, etc., but the NH seat and higher viewing advantage made for a great experience. The turning radius of the Kub was a bit tighter than the NH but both performed admirably. Initially, I tried a tight turn in 4WD and experienced some scuffing. Once I popped in 2WD, both machines seemed to turn tightly on the axis.

I made mistakes climing a small incline by pressing forward on the HST. Since this is not actually an accelerator, both tractors labored until I backed off. Many thanks to the folks on this site for oodles of info for the newbie.

The NH is a '99 used with 114 hrs, a 918A mower deck but no fel. The Kubby was new with fel and mower. Pricing for each, and adding an NH fel was $16K and $14.8K respectively. This is only round one in the negotiation so I expect I'll get a slightly better price.

At the end of the day, I liked the NH better. The machine has a wider stance, puts me up in the air in a stable sort of way, and was relatively comfortable considering I was on a tractor. There were "extending" hitches on the NH I liked that would be useful if I was off just a smidge attaching an implement. The dealer, although a Kubby, agreed to take care of my service needs. I liked him, the dealership, and his parents both of whom I met at one time or another.

The last step for me is to get a new quote from an NH dealer with the options I' m looking for. Tax in Indiana is 5% so I have a few dollars to play with if a new boomer comes close to $16K.

Thanks to all who have posted the many useful tidbits of insight about the NH and Kubby tractors. It's helped me make a more informed decision.
