TC 24D
Well its getting down to crunch time. There was frost on the car windows this morning which means snow can't be to far behind. I've been putting off the tractor purchase because of all of the problems I had with the builder for my new house. He turned out to be a moron whom I fired and then to protect himself from my lawsuit filed for bankruptcy (but that's a topic for another thread)

Needless to say, my budget for the tractor has been severly reduced. I'll be using the tractor for mowing (about 2 acres with varied terrain, with few trees to mow around) landscaping (my lot is about 15 wooded acres, 2 cleared for the house) and snow removal (700' stone drive with about a 40' elevation change up to the road).

I've been looking at the web and came across this TC 29D. I'd want to add a FEL and a rear blade and then pick up a mower in the spring. Do you think the $10,900 asking price is fair. Should I be wary of a tractor with 850 hours?

I'm only about 2 hours from this dealer so its fairly convenient. Deleware has no sales tax so I'd save about $600-$700 from a purchase in Pennsylvania.

I'd like some comments from the forum before I call or make the trip down to look at it.

Thanks,

Kip

Actually, the ad indicates 860 hours. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Depending upon when it was put into service in 1999, that works out to between 172 and 215 hours per year, or 3 to 4 hours per week on average. That seems like a lot of hours?

With no FEL and no mid mount mower, that leaves only 3ph related or towing/pulling work? The ad indicates it has 1 rear remote and it looks like there are 2 levers on the driver's right which would confirm this. Interesting.

Perhaps a rental?

Kiphorn,

850 hours does not seem like a lot to me. There is a lot of guys on this forum that puts a lot more hours per year on than this one. The thing you have to look at is to get on the tractor and test drive it, does it seem sound, is it beat up? Them are things you have to look at and another thing you will find that putting on an aftermarket loader could get expensive. If I was you, I would go out and look at a new TC30 with a new loader on it right from the get go. You might find the new 30 is about the same price as the TC29. And you can get it with Hydro. Otherwise based on what you are doing I am sure you would be happy with a TC24D.

Just some ideas for you to look at. I wouldn't just look at one tractor and make your decision on it.
