NEW HOLLAND TC33D
I'm ready to buy any day now. Still not totally sure if the 33D is worth the extra $ over the 29D (about $850.00). Any advice?

I purchased a 29D over a year ago. Sometimes I wish I had a little more HPs on some jobs but I really don't have any complaints...I still get the job done. It's a great tractor for my needs. Maybe some of the 33 owners will give you their take on it.

Just my opinion. (disclaimer) The TC33d not only has a more powerful engine, it is a larger displacement engine as well. The TC29 engine is a tuned-up version of the TC25 engine. I recently bought a TC30 with the same engine as the TC33 just has less fuel delivery. In my limited experience if you are getting hydro, get all the hp you can get, especially if you plan to do heavy pulling chores like disking or boxblading.

I got the TC33D thinking that it was better to get the highest available horse power in a particular frame size. I use the machine mainly for digging (as a TLB) and for field mowing with a rear finish mower. So far I am still glad I got the extra power. What has been the most limiting for me is the loader capacity. But then again if the loader had a higher capacity it might risk breaking something else on the tractor.

There should not be and 850.00 difference between those 2 tractors more like 400.00 at the most

I am running a 7' finish mower and on uphill cuts it starts to load the engine where I back off and go right through. I am glad I got the TC33D because anything less would be trouble in my situation. IMO always go for the most HP you can afford because you can't go wrong .

I had no idea a TC33D was only $850 more than a TC29D, I expected it to be at least a thousand more so I didn't even consider it. I sort of wish I did now. My TC29D handles everything I need it to, but it will slow down going up the hills more than I expected. I have some hills that are 15 to 25 degrees and even steeper in places where I have to slow way down to maintain PTO speed. I can mow in mid range full speed in most places, but there is a section that is a couple of hundred yards long and about a 10 degree grade and when mowing it with my 6' finish mower it won't maintain full PTO speed unless I slow down.

It seems to me that there really are too many models. They are so close, I am surprised some don't just go away. But i am sure there are bigger minds at work on this....
