Yesterday while My father in law was mowing the tractor began loosing all the Hydraulic Fluid. I was not around, but I was told that it seemed to becoming from the front of the engine. When I examined it, I Can not see any active leak (I was afraid to run it for more than a minute) There is fluid all over the hood radiator and heavier or the left side. I have a mid mount Mower and FEL. I noticed last few days though that as I raise the mower deck it Seemed to hiccup especially if it had any weight on it. I couldn't consistently reproduce it, so I was going to monitor it... probably wrong choice. Note, the fluid level was OK at that time though. Any Suggestions on how to locate leak safely or places to check. I have been following the Boards on and off for a few years and hare been very pleased with all the helpful information. Thanks

Check all fluids before you start and top off. Take off all attachments before you start.

Let machine cool to air temp, gently power wash (protecting delicate parts), then run machine with eye protection on to avoid getting fluid in eyes. Put over a surface like carboard to catch leak if leak not obvious.

Take pictures and post here.

It's probably the hydraulic oil cooler hoses. The oil cooler is mounted in front of the radiator near the top. There are two short rubber hoses that connect the cooler to the metal lines. They fail frequently. There is a modification from NH. See this thread.

I'm also guessing the cooler hoses but I would find the leak before I would complicate matters with water. Hydraulic oil doesn't go well with water added. Use a rag to get the excess off while making a determination where it's coming from. Once the leak has been corrected then you can do the deed with the soap & water.

For sure the front hydro rubber pieces. When the tractor is off, they will look normal and you will not see the splits, when the tractor is on they inflate and a pin hole can put out a lot of fluid. New hoses or the new fix lines are needed before you use your tractor anymore. If the tractor is still new, maybe you can get the dealer to fix it.
