I have a 1977 TW20 Ford - 140 hp tractor or so - where the 3pt lift will not drop at all. Can have the 3000# bean planter on it for a week, full up, and it will still be there, full up. Poor thing has over 5000 hours on it.

Amazing. Only tractor I have ever had that - all the rest drop with any weight on them at all when shut off. Some slower, some pretty fast.

( Murph our 40D is the same way. The FEL starts to settle as soon as the engine is stopped. But the 3-point stays where it was put. I will admit that if I have the weight bar on I lower it before shutting off the engine though. That's a lot of dead weight to be coming down on your foot accidentally. )

Mike,

I have a 300 pound iron molded weight on the 3 point. It is not large enough to get to the ground even if it does fall all the way down. It is my counter weight for when I use my loader which I keep on all winter. I suppose I should put it down but I forget that it is there most of the time. I don't have kids around at this time but I still should get use to it. Never know the kid might come home and tell me I will be grandpa some day.

I always drop the loader and 3PH to the ground when I park the 1910. Never know when the grandkids may play with it.

I wouldn't worry about it.
