I have a TC29D NW that want start. The PTO is disengaged and the tractor is in neutral. It made one click and then nothing. Hubby replaced the battery and still nothing. It doesn't try to turn over, no lights, gages, noise, etc. Neither my hubby or I are mechanically inclined but I would like to eliminate as much as I can before a mechanic is called in. I plan on checking the fuses and making sure the clutch is clear of any obstructions tomorrow. Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Check your fuses and battery connections first. Take the positive off and leave it off while you check the bigger wires for tightness. Do not touch any metal with the wrench while it is touching the positive terminal bolt it will arc and could cause an explosion. Clean and tighten all of the cable connections off of the battery. I would have said check the safety switches but when you said the lights would not come on that seems battery related.

If you have lost all power to all the lights, you need to check the 40 amp fuse just above the starter motor on the left side of the tractor. I has a cover you have to remove to get to the fuse. You also need to check all your other fuses. Do you have an operator's manual?

Much safer to disconnect the negative battery terminal first, and reconnect it last.

Be sure you have your speed selector on the top of the left rear fender in "N" Neutral...so the PTO lever should be disengaged, transmission in "N" neutral and speed selector in "N" Neutral...if you left the speed selector or any of the others anywhere other than neutral it will not start. That will be easy to check.

Thanks for all the help! It was a Main Fuse. What a quick and easy fix. Had to wait for hubby's help. The latch on the hood wouldn't release. So today he had time to look at it and was able to get it open after a bit. The latch keeps getting in a bind for some reason, but today I was able to drive our little tractor !! One happy girl... :D

Adiredneck, send her on down!!!

Glad you found the main fuse and replaced it.:) I've had trouble with my hood latch on my tractor too. What I do is about once per year I spray the latch with white lithium grease and work it until it is really free. After the first incidence of sticking, I've not had a problem since.
