In my search for a tractor I have come accross different and confusing pricing structures. One involves the TC29D and the TC30. A comparably equipped TC30 (with FWD and HST) is about $2000 less than the TC29D.
I would appreciate any ideas on the significant reasons for this difference.
Thanks

Both Good tractors. The TC29D is the Boomer series which is suppose to be a little more deluxe tractor. The TC30 was designed to compete with the others. Your dealer can tell you more of the differences. I have driven both of them and like them both. I ended up buying the TC29D because the 30 was not available at the time and I just like the way the 29 handled better. I liked the Super-Steer option that was not available on the 30.

The TC30 is a bare bones tractor. The TC29D has a folding ROPS, deluxe seat (swivel, adjust for operator's weight), I think the gauges are better, extendable lower links, etc. There have been a number of threads about the TC30 and several people on TBN own them. A Search for TC30 shows several pages of posts about this model. Whether or not the additional features of the 29D are of value is a personal preference.

As Mike stated, the TC29 primarily offered some deluxe features and styling. But, the new TC29's, I believe will have the new 14LA loader as compared to the 7308 that is used on the TC30. The 14LA loader can lift more. I am sure that there are lots of TC29's still around with the 7308 loader, so if you want the 14LA, make sure you specify this to your dealer.

I should have probably checked the specs before posting this, but doesn't the TC29 have greater capacity hydraulic system, tighter turning radius, and possibly greater lift capacity at the 3pt? I believe the TC29 is also capable of quick attach front implements like a front snowblower, front grader blade, etc. Not sure if the front quick attach system is available for the TC30.

I have a 7309 loader on my 2120 and it was converted to Quick Attach by the addition of the ATI plate. I believe an ATI plate is available for the 7308. The TC30 is a fine general purpose tractor. Like others have said it is just missing a few of the bells and whistles.

For me, the biggest advantages of the TC29D are the large platform so it's easy to get on and off and roomy once in the seat, the deluxe 3pt hitch makes changing implements much easier and faster, and the roll bar folding down comes in handy for both getting it in the garage and mowing close to trees with low branches. The rest of the deluxe features are nice, but not as important to me.
