I have a couple of ? for all you out there. I have been reading all the posts on the tc not heating up. My tractor is a standard model and i do not have a temperature guage so i do not know if my tractor is operating at the right temp. does this problem happen on all the tractors or just the D models.and my second ? is i have a Woods brushhog with a slip clutch and have herd that it needs to be adjusted after sitting for the winter how do i go about doing that, any replys are much appreciated.

You will not have to adjust your slip clutch on you woods mower. If your mower starts slipping when you are cuttin weeds then it needs to be tightened, otherwise leave it alone because if you do not know what you are doing they can be a pain in the neck.

sjf, didn't your Woods mower come with a manual? It should have the instructions for adjusting the slip clutch. I know Turkster says if it slips, it needs tightening, but I think you'll find a number of messages about them seizing so they don't slip when they're supposed to, and that can cause a lot of damage to other parts.

I don't know for certian about your size Boomer, however on the 35 40 & 45 it is a normal thing to warm up slow & run cool. I just got mine back from the recall transmition fix & they also took care of the temperature issue too. If you look at your machine & it has the handy little hose with a valve to drain the engine block & and radiator all at once, it probably is running cool. The fix they did for mine simply was to add an additional valve in that hose so you can turn off the water flow through the hose. That lets the thermostat do its job & keep the coolant from flowing before it gets up to temperature. Otherwise enough coolant bypasses the thermostat by going through that hose to cool things before it should.

SJF interesting initials - Mine are FJS.
I have a TC 29D & live in SE Mich. Mine does come up to temp after about a 5 - 10 minute warm up. I think the issues only exists with the 35, 40, 45 model Boomers. I suggest after warm up you run at 2000 RPM or above. I will also let the engine idle for a few minutes (winter or summer) before I shut it down.

? one the only tc's that seem to have a temp. problem are the class 3 boomers because of the large radiator. ? two after the mower sits in storage over winter the slip clutch should be slipped before using for the season the owners manual should show you how to do this
